How To Create A Custom Vanity Username For Your Facebook Profile

One of the questions I usually get from some people is how to get a short custom username for their Facebook profiles. I am surprised that some people still don’t know how to go about this. This ability has been available on Facebook for long now, what it does is that it just converts the long string of numbers(example, id=592952074) that comprises your profile link into a short custom and memorable vanity url that you can now easily share with your friends and colleagues.

So in this tutorial, I will be taking you through on a step by step process on how to setup a custom vanity username and url for your facebook profile.

Step 1: Login into your facebook profile.

Step 2: Goto Facebook.com/username

Step 3: Enter your desired username. Once you are done with it, click on Check Availability.

Step 4:  If that user name is available, facebook would ask you to confirm and then it would show you your new Facebook URL. This is will normally be facebook.com/your.username. Example is mine at Facebook.com/Oegbule

Congrats! Your new branded short and custom facebook url is now on and can easily be shared with friends.

Some things you should know about Facebook usernames:

• Your desired username must be at least 5 characters and can be composed of latin characters/letters and numbers. You can use capitals, but spaces are not allowed in facebook usernames. A dot(.) in your username is ignored, eg your.username is same as yourusername.
