Pinterest is a virtual pinboard where users(pinners) pin images to pin boards. Sounds crazy right? No! It is the latest fad on the internet highway now where every Tom, Dick, Harry and their cat love to post various funny and creative pictures of themselves and share with friends and the worlds. Each image or pin is organized into ‘pinboards’. You can have as many images and pinboards as you want. Incase you are wondering what you will gain by joining, i will be giving you various reasons why you need to join Pinterest.

Pinterest is a great tool and listing all the ways and reasons it can be great for everybody will be quite difficult, but i will take a shot and hope you find something good for you.

1. Connect with friends in a cool way

If you are looking for another great way to connect with friends in a more relaxed environment, then Pinterest is where to be. Pinterest is a greatly addictive site and you will love it, especially if you love images.

2. Instant Organized bookmarking

Found a great story on any site? Pinterest is there for you. Video? Image? Pinterest is there too for you and helps you to instantly bookmark those nice and nifty images for later reference. You can organize your bookmarks(pins) into categories(pinboards). For example, on my pinterest profile, I have a pinboard called Infographics where I only pin awesome infographics I come across on the internet. I have other pinboards for other images. Keep all your random ideas and links in one organised place.

Who doesn’t love images? An image is worth a thousand words. With Pinterest, you get an easy and fun-filled way to share and enjoy awesome images with friends and acquintances. You can easily share any pin with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or any other social network. Pin things that inspire and motivate you, be it quotes, pictures, videos, etc.

Make new friends with same interests:

Love cooking and sharing food recipes? There are people like you on Pinterest. Are you a wedding organiser and love pics of bridal dresses and wedding stuffs? What of tutorials and how tos? Most businesses and brands have a presence on pinterest, so you can easily buy what you want from there.

7. Easy to use:

Did i mention that pinterest is so easy to use that even a cat can use it? It is very easy to share images on pinterest. There is even a pinterest bookmarklet that you can install in your browser and click on it  when you find any image on any site you want to pin to any of your boards. You can add the pinterest bookmarklet to help you pin images from sites easily.

8. Plan and organise events and projects:

Pinterest can help you organize and plan for projects and events. From weddings, birthdays or house decorations to what to cook, you can organize it on Pinterest. Just find what you need on the web and pin it to an appropriately named board.

Love cooking or making wedding dresses? You can take or create nice pictures and share them on pinterest. If you love creating guides, guides and how tos, pinterest is a great place for you to share them. Even if it is cats you love, you can share your funny and crazy cat pics and videos.

Where you thinking you would be paying for all this awesomeness? Pinterest is free! Wont have been fun any other way. All you need to join pinterest is an email address and the willingness to view images in a fun-filled way.

How to join Pinterest.

Pinterest is currently in open beta and requires an invite to join. To join pinteret, just goto Pinterest.com, and click on ‘Request an Invite’. Your  email address will be asked for, input it. You will be sent an invite to join Pinterest to that email. When you get the email, open your account, follow people and pin away! Dont forget to follow my pins on Pinterest. You can then add friends from facebook.

If you want to view your facebook timeline profile as a pinboard, you can check the awesome Pinviewer facebook app. This nifty app takes your facebook timeline profile and converts it into a pinterest style pin board. There is also a facebook group for the pinterest addicts.
